Regimental Remit | JW Grom is based in Warsaw and Gdansk in Poland and is deployed in special operations, unconventional warfare, anti terrorist operations and projection of force behind enemy lines. GROM operators are known for their extensive medical training and knowledge. GROM members have operated domestically in Poland on extended police duties, such as protecting important political persons and civilians, for example during the Euro 2012 football tournament. They have been deployed abroad in Haiti and tasked with arresting Serbian and Kosovan war criminals. GROM soldiers have been deployed in various operations alongside American and British servicemen as part of the War on Terror in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq. Most recently members of GROM have protected Polish President Andrzej Duda during his visit to Ukraine during the Russian invasion. |
Noteworthy Operations | 1994- Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti, military intervention designed to remove the military regime installed by the1991 Haitian coup d’etat. It was authorised by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 940. 2001- Hunt for war criminals in Kosovo.2002-2004- Missions in Afghanistan such as bodyguarding and protecting bases. 2003- 2004, 2007-2008- GROM soldiers participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom, a protracted armed conflict in Iraq beginning with the invasion of Iraq by a coalition led by the United States. 2007-2021- GROM Soldiers operate in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan as part of Task Force 49. 2022- Protection of Polish President Andrzej Duda during his visit to Ukraine amidst the Russian invasion. |
